Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 98 Windstar 3.8 P1513 Code but no Check Engine Light

I had my transmission serviced (fluid change, etc.), and the technician reported the P1513 engine code was up - IMRC bank 2 stuck closed. However, the check engine light has never come up. He said that some codes don't always turn on the CEL. Anyone else heard of this? Thanks.

I have seen this occur first hand on my full size bronco. It has the older... OBD diagnostics, but I wouldn't be surprised that it could happen on the OBD II systems.

Sure...e.g., my tranny-related codes have never triggered MIL!
