Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 1999 Windstar smells of gas
1999 Windstar smells terribly of gas. I filled the tank today and had to open the windows and air it out while driving because it stunk so bad. Now, it's sitting in the garage and really smells. There are no puddles, so I'm not sure what is going on.

Any ideas? We just bought this van (our other 1999 has very few problems) and thought it was a great deal. However, it's already been in the shop for another issue and now this. Hoping its a simple, cheap fix.

Gas thieves break the fill pipe and slip in a siphon hose. Check that.
