How to Disconnect ABS

Our 1998 Windstar's ABS has been kicking in every time it's almost at a stop. The ABS light on the dash is not lit. When I had it looked at, I was told that the front axle's tone ring is cracked and that's what's causing the ABS to kick in. However, I dont have the money right now to get the axle fixed plus we have been trying to sell it so, as much as possible I don't want to spend the money. The mechanic that looked at it told me that since we're selling it, we can just get the ABS disconnected to prevent what's been happening since we'll still have the conventional brakes.

Does anyone know how to disconnect the ABS line? Is there a procedure that needs to be done (i.e. bleed the ABS line etc)? I would like to see if I can do it myself before spending more money for the mechanic to do it.

Just pull the fuse or the harness off the ABS system. Even easier just unplug one of the sensors on the wheels.

I found a plug under the hood, right in front of the battery, next to the prop... Pull the near-useless connector and beal with a brake, and ABS light...

Good thing is it automatically disables the ABS system. I highly advise you to actually fix the ABS properly. Get some new Wheel Speed sensors.
