Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 98 windstar electrical issues plus

I have a 98 windstar 3.8l gl with 194,000 miles. For the most part, this van has been amazing. Didn't have to do any work to it besides regular maintenance until around 100,000 miles. I threw a rod in 2004 and had the engine rebuilt. Had transmission trouble and speed sensor replaced in 2005. Since then nothing till the last 6 months or so. Here's all the issues:
1) power side view mirrors stopped working
2) power door lock on sliding door intermittently worked then completely stopped - now the doors just randomly lock and unlock on their own - I have pulled the pdl relay to keep my sanity
3) had the door ajar situation but after reading about the wd-40 fix here - tried it and it worked - yea!
4) rear ac only blows hot air on bottom - read here about removing the arm on whatever it was called in the back panel behind drivers seat and now air comes thru top and side vents - however, top vents are moderately cool but not nearly as cool as front and side vents blow hot! still need work on this. I have disassembled the switch from the front dash and am waiting til I can get to Ford on monday to pick up the new one and try that . It does seem to be getting freon and such since I checked the lines under the car and did have the hot return and cold line in thing
5) had for awhile the front air only blows thru defroster thing but that has mysteriously disappeared
6) Cruise control won't come on at all
7) brake lights don't work - replaced bulbs in all 3 and now high mount works but still nothing from the side ones...replaced brake switch - nothing - have checked all mini fuses and maxi fuses
8) oil in air filter compartment - this could be from me cleaning the intake valve's on the manifold with cleaner thru the throttle body but the electrical looking wires ( could be vacuum I guess as well) were covered in gunk. I replaced the air filter and cleaned the gunk as best I could but it seemed more like oil as opposed to the watery black substance that was coming out of the throttle body from the cleaner.
9) oil disappearing

Okay so that seems like alot I guess and any help on any of it is greatly appreciated. I can't help but wonder if there isn't some main something that could be the culprit for all the electrical stuff.

Thank!
