Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default heater core problem...

I have 99 Windstar with 173,555 miles on it. Few months ago, I had to change heater core because all the coolant fumes were coming in through the A/C vent. About 3~4 month after fixing heater core, I had same problem again. So I had to fix heater core again for the second time. My question is will this same problem happen again? And what do you think the cause is to have the same problem twice?? any opinions??

did you test your heater core to see where its leaking ? fill a pail with water and block one end of the core and blow in to the other and look for bubbles.
it might be rubbing on something causing the leaks ?

check coolant check hoses running to back and front heater cores and check thermostate next would be to flush system with water runn out all coolant and if u see glumps of colland u have corrision best thing to is preston radiator flush take themostate out reseal with no thermostat and add water and flush then runn for 15 min with heater on full blast if u get heat then u had every thing cloged u might have to repeat the process

i took it to the shop and its new part. also i dont have the parts to test them. the guy said everything else is fine. second time i fixed it, it was under warranty so i did not pay for it. so im guessing it was the same heater core (new one that i got it fixed) that was leaking again. not the other one.
