Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 2000 SE stuck in Park

My Windstar stays stuck in park unless I turn the key halfway then it will go to Neutral and I can start it up and put it in drive. But once it's back in Park, it stays there until I turn off the van and move the key halfway, and do it all again (neutral, start, drive).

Anyone else deal with this?

ps- Hello, first time poster here.

There is a switch down by the brake pedal that controls the shift interlock.Check fuse11 its a 10 amp in thecentral junction box.The RD/LG wire should have 12v with the pedal depressed. If not remove the switch and fully extend the plunger and reinstall with the brake pedal depressed release the pedal and it will reset to the correct depth.Of course you may have to replace the switch if all that doe not work.

Windstars may be different but on the Aerostar, if all (3) brake lights are burned out, the shifter will not work. It is easy to check this before you crawl under the dash.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. Ironically, this issue occured the day big O tires did my brakes.
