Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Cigarette Lighter Replacement Question

Hello all. This may be a really dumb question to you awesome people who know what you're doing, but to a guy who normally doesn't have the ability to fix much, I need some help.

That said:

I have a '96 Winstar GL. The cigarette lighter in the front somehow came unscrewed, so half of it is loose inside the dash and the other half is still connected to the cell phone charger (so I wouldn't lose the pieces.)

Anyway, I know they simply screw back into each other and should work fine (assuming a fuse didn't blow at separation or anything)...

My question however, is how to access it to get the things back together.

How do I remove that bit of rubbery paneling near that part of the dash? do I have to remove the entire dash? does that part just pop out? (It looks like it but I didn't want to snap anything that wouldn't go back)...

Any help would be great, as soon as possible... I'm taking the family on a trip and really want to use the power for charging a phone/kids' DVDs/etc and I'm leaving in two days!!!

Any help would be appreciated greatly! Thanks!

JUst pull out the cup holder and remove the two screws holding the black trim. At this point you can simply pull off the black trim piece as it is held in by clips. The switches at the bottom for wiper etc are connected to it so you either need to unplug them or you may have enough room at this point to screw your power point back together.
