Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Groaning 98 3.8 windy
When I shut off the engine(a/c on) there is a loud groan like squeezing a balloon while stretching the opening.It is coming from the front of the van,and am sure it is heating/cooling related,but don't know why its happening or how to correct.

Try the brake pedal after shutdown. It should give power brakes for four or five times. If brake goes hard after the groan, there is a leak in the brake booster.
