 Abs sensor ring : Front 1999 sel - help!
Howdy All, first time post and in need of advice.
Cruising up the highway yesterday when there is this almighty crunch and grind.
Turns out that a big bolt (about 15 mm head) on the steering knuckle? (the big chunk of metal outboard of the abs sensor ring has backed out of its hole and become familiar with the abs sensor ring.
Result - one completely ground flat abs sensor ring (with attendent problems of traction control off, ABS light one, O/D off, no speedo)
First Question: What is involved in replacing the sensor ring? I am 450 miles away from home looking for a mechanic.
Second Question: How could this happen. About a month ago I had the whole front end brake system replaced. eg. Calipers, discs. Would this bolt have been touched during this repair, and therefore probably not done back up properly. Location of the bolt is just above and outboard of the abs sensor ring.
