Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 2000 Windstar Stereo

Hi all;
My 2000 Windstar stereo quit working on the RH side. It is the factory am/fm/cassette/cd player with the rear headphone jacks & controls. Also no sound out of the RH side on the rear headphone jack.
The dealer said that the stereo itself is hooped and a new one is over $700cdn. I took the van to an auto wrecker and they installed a used one, but it has the same problem, no sound out RH channel. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Is this a premium sound radio, I think they use external amps?

To tell you the truth you could of put an aftermarket CD player in there from Crutchfield.com cheaper than buying that used Junkyard radio.

Hi Mark;
Yes it is the premium sound system. The auto wrecker pulled out his radio and tried another one and it did the same thing. So they put my original radio back in and suggested that the dealer should pay because they diagnosed wrong (yeah, right).
So, I'm wondering is there an external amp and if so, where would it be? I'd rather not replace the stero with an aftermarket one because we use the rear headphone jacks. The kids can listen to a cd, while I listen to the radio.
Thanks for any help.

I think there is an external amp but I am no expert with the stock radios. An Aftermarket Stereo will not allow the headphone jacks to work, I have them and they are now useless with my new radio.
