On Sunday, my family and I were heading home from my brothers house. We made one quick stop before we were to leave town. I ran inside and my hubby stayed in van with it running. It was about 15 minutes. When I returned and we took off, our tranny slipped. We drove immediately to a car parts store to buy fluid and to check out what was going on. We could definitely see where the leak was coming from. As long as we pulled over to fill the fluid, we were able to make it back to my brothers house with no more slipping. When we pulled into the drive, there was literally a stream of fluid coming out from the pan on the underside, where the torque converter is located. We brought the van home (2 1/2 hours) on a car trailer and the mechanic picked it up this morning.
I called the mechanic to find out what the damage was and they said that they could not make the van leak. It was definitely low on fluid, 2 quarts, but they did not see any leak. They left it running for awhile and everything. They said not even seaping, let alone a drip.
Are we crazy, what was going on?? We where sure it was the torque converter seal or the torque converter but they said they got nothing.
It is a 2001 Windstar with 97,000 miles on it. We just replaced a ball joint and both front bearing in the last two weeks. Please tell me we aren't crazy
