Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Windsheild wipers not working

So, a few months ago, we had our Turning Signal switch replaced. None of our lights would work. The guy told me that switch controls everything (lights, signal, wipers ect)

Well, a few weeks ago, my husband was driving home and the wipers wouldn't work. The next morning I went to take it in and they worked just fine. Last night they didn't work. I went to see if they would work for me and Nope.

So... what could my problems be?

I'm thinking The motor (which I was told would be around 160 to replace), the switch (which I am hoping, because it's under warranty), or maybe a bad wire.

What other things could it be?

A fuse, a short, the switch or the motor. Really they all need to be tested first cause it is hard to diagnose this unless I can see the van.

I called the place and he said, it sounds like the module. He won't know till he looks at it. I'm kinda freaking out. I read somethings where people said they had the problem, and that it burnt out the fuse box and whatever else and it cost like 900.00 to replace. I shouldn't of googled! Then I noticed it wasn't for a Windstar or even a Ford car.

Oh, they said that there was a leak in the windshield that caused water to get in and do that.

Markv: "A fuse, a short, the switch or the motor.."

A short would blow the fuse.

Does the rear wiper work?

I have had fuses blow before, replaced them and never ever had troubles again. You dont need a short to blow a fuse, a power surge or spike can do the same thing.

No, back one hasn't worked in a LONG time! But that's okay. I don't mind that. It was the motor on my windshield. It took them about 2 hours to fix and it's working great now!

I'd advise replacing the rear wiper, it enables you to wash the rear window and see, especially with the salty winter approaching. The back wiper motor is easy... hardest part is fighting with those evil plastic "grips" that hold the trim to the door... They show no mercy.

After that, just remove wiper arm, remove three bolts on the backside, disconnect the electrical harness, and swap. Do the reverse to put everything back together. I picked up my rear wiper motor at a junk yard for $35... Works great.
