Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Our 2001 Windstar pops & misses on 1 cyl.

Hello, We have put about $1500.00 in to our Windstar since November 25th. The problem is still not fixed. We had a local shop change the upper intake manifold gasket, spark plugs & wires, fuel filter, & all 6 fuel injectors. The fuel injectors were done after they had sent it home and it stared doing the same thing. The van misses up hills and pops. It also misses around 40-55mph on the freeway. The mechanics say it is cylinder #3 that is the bad boy.

We got frustrated with no success and took the van to Ford. Ford said lower intake was full of carbon. We then took the van back to the original shop with the Ford diagnostic in hand. They cleaned the lower intake and replaced gaskets, etc. at no charge to us. Ford wanted 677.00 to do that.

Still No change. Any ideas ? We are ready to drive this van off a cliff.

Could it be the coil pack ?

Thanks in advance,

Ryan E.

Hmm. Do you have the 3.8L or the 3.0L?

found out it is only a bad plug wire, still covered under warranty..... My cost is the gas to get to the mechanic. (they replaced the plugs and wires 3 months ago)
