Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

On some cars the "dohickey" is glued to the window. This is very special "magic" glue and can only be purchased at the dealer. The glass must be perfectly clean. After using your favorite cleaner, go over it with alcohol and let it air dry.

Aligning the window and the arm and keeping the window in the channel is the big challenge !

Spedia,
IF you still have your door panel off, could you please post another picture of how the regulator is attached to the window?
Thanks!

!
On the Windstar, the black dohickey slides in a track, not glued to the window.

This is what the door will look like with the access holes drilled out in order to remove the motor. Also show is how the window is attached to the regulator assy. for those who need to change the regulator assy. and not just the motor. I could not see the other side of the fastener but it felt like a rivet, inspection mirrow was not handy at the time.

Stop....did you check the switch. Why are you assuming it's the motor when you already have the switch out??? just had similar problem with a different model and it was the switch. We have these junk yards that let you go in and remove the part you need. I was in and out in 2 minutes and had the switch I needed. Never had to take the door apart. I'd start there before you get a new motor and that one don't work either.

you can buy motor and regulator assy together for 65 at autozone w/lifetime. best to change both. you do hot have to take the tack off window. see the tap, pust it down and bend each edge of tack and just side it off and back on

Thanks so much for this posting. Made the job so much easier and better. I'm guessing my motor (like a lot of others) had just developed a single bad spot - and now that I was able to move it off there - its working fine. BTW - repair manual for 95-98 does not mention drilling out the dimples - which was definitely the key to this job. Thanks again!

Same here, this thread saved me a lot of work, drilled out the dimples to remove the motor on the passenger side window of my 99 SE. Pulled out the motor hooked up the wires and found the motor works fine. Put it back in and the window works again. Perhaps another motor with a bad spot?
Anyway, working again for now, if it stops again I'll pull it back out and put in a new one.

Thanks for this thread. Found very useful. My problem was slightly different. I had BOTH windows stop working at same time. Ford diagnosed both motors bad. NO WAY!! I pulled driver's motor from regulator and hooked back to power -- tested no problem with motor. Put back in worked great. Did same on passenger window -- again no problem. Passenger motor was slightly jammed on regulator and required a little encouragement to dislodge. Leads me to believe that it had jammed and caused some type of circuit protection to kick in. Read in Haynes about a circuit breaker and may require resetting; however, does not say where or how.
Thanks again .... now to get the lighting issues resolved -- hopefully the new headlight switch will cure that tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
