Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Help: 2000 windstar Power Window Not working

My 2000 windstar's driver side power window recently quit working. I'm trying to find out the reason myself but got some problems. I took of the window side panel and the cover as shown in the attached picture. But I don't know take out the motor. Are those red dots screws? How can I take them off?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nice picture...
No they are rivets. You can drill the center out, and hit it with a nail, or nail punch. Later you can reassemble it with thin bolts. OR perhpas you can rent a larger riveter tool.

Thank you Bronco. Could you elaborate how I can take off the motor? I saw another similar thread on ford taurus or something. There someone mentioned to drill cut three holes and then take off the three bolts which mounted the motor on the interior metal panel.

just did this on saturday, make sure that tou tape the window up in place before you take out motor. there are three bolts that hole the motor in, 1 with a spacer make sure you reuse the spacer.you also have to take the nuts off that hold the regulator arm in place.getting the new motor in is a pain in the as.s

The Ford manual tells you which dimples have to be drilled to get at the bolts. Had to do it on my '99, per guidance from my '02 manual.

The glass is springloaded, so if it's up when you pull the motor, it will stay up.

Check my prior posts on this, and you'll likely save the cost of a new motor.

How did you determine that the motor was the problem?

Just took another look at your picture and noted that it appears that the black dohickey I circled in blue is probably supposed to go into a slide at the bottom of the window.

Agreed on that black thingy. Did you liberate it from its track, or did you find it that way?

Sorry, just now looked at your pic. You have the nut holding the forward attachment of the motor off its stud. Now drill out those two dimples you see aft of that stud, above and below that 2" round hole. You'll find the other two mounting bolts.

You have circled pop rivets, which hold the mechanism, and will probably never need to be removed.
