Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Arrow 1996 GL Removing the radio and inserting a cd unit question.

Hi I have a question about the removal of the radio unit on my Ford Wind star. I am not really to sure about how I should get it out of there. Do I just pop it out or do I have to remove some large pieces around the area? And for the install of the cd player that just slides right in correct? All I have to do is plug the right cables in right? If any one has a link to a manual with some instructions I could see please post them. Thanks for the help.

What are "din tools"?

I inserted four 1/8" x 1/8" square rods into the holes in the radio unit's faceplate and this seemed to loosen things up, but I still could not remove the unit. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

For those looking to remove their Ford radio units from the dash, this is easily done with DIN tools. To make them yourself from a coat hangar, here's a link. http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/213/45/ (Ain't Google grand?)

Or, you could get a set at WALMART for $3.96!!! (In the automotive audio section, Brand: SCOSCHE, Part# DT-1, Walmart SKU# 003399142011.
