You can put lots of dirt on a magnet and it will still read a signal through the dirt. These sensors were designed to do this.
My front left has a thick coating of road crap and brake dust and still works.
My right front failed. It is supposed to show like 2000 or so OHM's and read zero when I tested it. |
I ohm'ed my sensors and all were between 1874 and 1925. The rear sensors were completely caked with brake dust. I used brake cleaner and paper towels to clean them off and reinstalled after I took the drums off and completely cleaned out the inside. Not that any of this worked to eliminate the ABS/E-brake lights, but its the cheapest and easiest thing to do to eliminate them as a cause.
