Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default ring/alarm sounding off

at night, when the headlights are on, the van sounds off the ringing alarm like mad. when i step on the gas, it will stop, but when i stop, say for a stoplight, the sound starts again. when i turn off the headlight, the sound stops too. im not familiar with cars. what do you think the problem is?

Which alarm is sounding off? Is it the chime for the door open with headlights on? Or is it the car alarm?

If it is the one for the door open and headlights on you probably have a malfunctioning drivers side door sensor.

Most likely you have a bad door sensor. To test you could tape the door sensor so it can't open at all one by one to find out which one it is.

Once you locate it you have to replace it.

I was told there was no way to disable the ringer, so I expermited with a used module(it is a plastic black box, located by your right leg,has 3 sets of wires going to it,one screw holds it in place).the box will snap apart and inside is a computer part that looks like a modem, and like a modem it has a black round piece that is a speaker sticking out on one side of the card.dead center is an opening, this is thick plastic.I took a drill and rounded out the hole at the top and 2 pieces were easily removed, both were round, the larger piece was very thin, the smaller piece was thicker. DO NOT DRILL THRU the card, just enough to remove the pieces inside. I figured if it was not intact it shouldn't ring, and it doesn't.only drawback is that if you leave your lights on,it will not remind you to turn them off. I made two stickers to remind me to check if the headlights are on. The inside light will remain on till you get up to about 15 mph, then goes out,but that dinger is not sounding off anymore. I got the used module on eBay for $15 including the shipping,I'm sure you can find one in junk yard,I never removed the orginial just in case, the replacement stays out of the way, when it is hooked up with the wires. Its been 3 months,no problem, except I left the lights on one time before I did the stickers.I couldn't find the defective sensor, and it was driving me up the wall at night.
