Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
first id like to say thanks to the forum and everyone who posts good advice /info
i found the cause of my heater selector malfunction was a cracked red vacume hose on the passenger side of my engine compartment near the firewall
while i was replacing it however i broke a coolant line(sigh!!) which was rusted pretty bad i barely brushed it with my arm and it shot me with a gyser of warm coolant. it is a hard line located on the left of the engine (when standing in front of the van) it is a t taht comes from the antifreeze overflow bottle and then the line splits off to the water pump (i think) and goes to a 90 that goes into the engine. the part that broke off in the rubber hose i took off and put the hose back on the part that was left. i cleaned it up a little. the part of the line that fell off however has a tapered nipple on the end and the part that i currentally have the hose attached to is about 1/4 inch I.D while the little nipple only has an opening like a millimeter or two wide
the BIG question is will this fuck up my engine because i drove it 20 miles back to my house and it workes fine but i dont know if the reduction of size is designed for pressure or something and i am concerned. otherwise the part looks fine it was only rusted where it craked and i think it might be expensive to get replaced <but im no mechanic>
thanks and sorry about the lenghty post
