Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
I recently bought a 98 Windstar with 19,000 miles on it. I have solved several problems with help here, (ABS light, Door chime, still working on rear A/C - getting a switch at the dealer tommow) and I thank everyone for the help. I have another problem with a surge or stumble at partial throttle at 30 to 40, or at a steady 30 to 40. Romp on it, and she will accelerate just fine. I changed the plugs and wires due to age and it really smoothed out, but the stumble described above is still there. Any ideas?
LOL Yeah, the rear seats had never even been sat on, bought it from a dealer for $4,000 cash, some small problems like the rack made a lot of noise for the first 2,000 miles due to so little use, but it has quited down now. Get this stumble cured and some rear a/c (believe it is that rear air switch- have no suction at the rear heater control valve or the vacuum motor) and she will be sorted out- for now
I have a 98 Windstar that just turned 180,000 miles (I am the original owner). It is doing the same thing. I have recently replaced the Intake Manifold Runner Control Valves (IMRC 1&2) as I had error codes saying they were stuck open. Replaced upper intake manifold gaskets (code was saying misfire on #1 cylinder) and serpantine belt. Error codes gone but surging is worse than ever.

PS: my rear A/C doesn't work either. Only blows out of bottom vents.
Please start your own thread, it is so much easier to help 1 person out at a time when the thread is dedicated to only one members question at a time.
Even though your question may be the same it is just easier to help members out if they have their own threads, it ends all confusion.
