Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
03 Windstar. Car has 93K miles. We took it out last Friday with temps in the 90s and started getting falshing dash lights warning of ABS and brake issues. I got home and checked for codes with scanner and found none.
I had this problem, but only with the ABS lights coming on. Same symptoms where it would go away if you restart the car.
I instrumented LEDs and volt meters to the ABS module in several places and found that if the circuit to the ABS bulb in the instrument panel is broken for any amount of time, 22seconds later, the ABS warning signal would enable and stay on until it was reset by turning the vehicle off.
I removed the instrument panel and found the intermittant circuit to be a bad solder joint on the cable socket. This could be the case for your ABS as well as the brake light circuit.
