Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

All the Windstar defenders, sorry but I fully agree with midnitez that Windstar is a case of poor engineering; deliberate or otherwise, I can't say.

Ford discontinued Windstar in 2003 to replace it with Freestar; and since 2007, that's history too:

Mark is the supermoderator of "Ford" forums and I wouldn't expect anything less from him than to go all out in Ford's defense. In his shoes, I would ("faithfully") do the same. Nonetheless, I have read him criticize Ford at times, so he does not completely lose his objectivity.

Joe makes a good suggestion about the warranty issue. However, I wonder if posters like him would be able to accumulate 4k plus posts, were it not for people like midnitez to ("selfishly" as suggested by Joe) post their questions.

Help the mankind selflessly; don't rub it in, please.

Even though my Windstar also sucks, I am happy to be a part of Ford Forums!
