| 99 Windstar Transmission problem? I have a 99 Windstar, it will go into reverse, but not into drive. Is this a transmission problem? |

| If the shifter moves into drive and when you press the gas nothing happens then it is a transmission problem or a linkage problem between the shifter and the transmission. At 45000 miles my windstar did the same thing. It was the transmission. |

| sounds like the shifter linkage is bad......shouldn't be a major expense to fix....but find a reputable dealer or tranny shop in your area |

| Internal trans failure Nancy
Sounds like the transmission in your Windstar has an internal mechanical failure. Speciffically, the reverse sun gear has broken out of the drum. This is a component that can only be replaced by removing the trans from the vehicle, and tearing it down. |
