Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Thumbs up 2000 Ford Windstar - #10 Fuse Problem

I want you all to know that I was so stressed out because my vehicle was blowing the #10 use as well. I was told it was an electrical problem and they quoted me at least $400 to fix it. I came across this site and found the answer to my problem. Needless to say I shared the information with my mechanic friend, he told me to purchase the part ($28) and he put it on in less than 10 mintues. Hallelujah!!! I have AIR, speedometer and mileage guage.

Thank you all for solving my problem. Now I can use that $400 for much needed things. Be blessed.

Unhappy Singed Brake Pressure Switch

Yesterday after work I smelled a smoky odor in my 2000 Ford Windstar. When I started the car I noticed I did not have a mileage guage, the air conditioner was not blowing cold air and I had no speedometer. A month ago I replaced the Master Brake Pressure Switch (SW-6351XW72-9F924) because I read in another forum that replacing this switch would keep the #10 fuse from blowing and that is true.

Now it seems as if it caught fire and singed it. Does anyone have a solution? Could this part be faulty? I need help and fast.

....odd, is your master cylindar leaking??? if it is, it could be why the switch blew up (I know Ford revised that switch a while ago, but that don't mean it's fixed for good) Otherwise I'd get another switch, replace the fuse, and cross your fingers.

Having the same problem with the odometer, speedometer and A/C, plus my overdrive light is flashing. I checked the #10 fuse and it appears to be good. Does anyone else have the other symptoms without the fuse blowing?

Wow...good luck to find this site...now if I can find that switch and disconnect it. My #10 went out for the first time today. But, I replaced it and it went out again immediately...now I need to try to find this switch...I do however remember my brake light coming on about a month ago and I refilled my brake fluid, for the first like 3 days however, it was like I had no brakes at all...I had to push my brakes with both feet all the way to the floor. I was just about to take it in when all of a sudden they worked just fine again. So, I just figured there must have been some kind of blockage in the brake fluid line and it must have pushed through and let the fluid into the master cylinder...now, I wonder if it BUSTED through and that is why the fluid was able to flow again. I dont know what to do.

Default Disconnected switch

I'm up to about 8 bucks in burnt fuses now. Frustrating fixes.

I have replaced the brake switch which my local Canadian Ford dealer hit me up for another 45 bucks. No leaking anymore but burnt the fuse immediately!

I disconnected the switch and finally the fuse holds. The speedometer, odometer, rear fan and temperature controls work with no ABS light on. I did not try the cruise on/off but I can live without it if it is not working.

My question? Am I safe driving with the switch unplugged?

Default ABS light, A/C, Power Windos/Doors, Radio shut down

First teh ABS light came one so I pulled over, turned off the van and tried to restart: nothing. Waited a few minutes and the van started up, but the ABS light was still on.
Turned a corned using my left blinker and the blinker stayed on all the way home;, even after flipping the lever into the right turn position. Then the A/C shut off, the radio stopped working and the power windows and doos went dean.
Once we got home, waited a few minutes and the van started up and everything fwas functioning properly, except the front left signal light.
Thought it might be battery related, but now not sure.
Any solutions???

Check out this website. i work at a salvage yard and have seen vans brought in that have burnt even while turned off and parked...The recall is issued by Ford and would be worth your while to check and see if your Ford falls under the recall...just some FYI...

Ford Windstar Recall For ABS Brake Light Issue

Recall Results : ODI - Office of Defects Investigation

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid answers!
