Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Question 99 Ford Windstar Fuse #10 Problem

Fuse #10 keeps shorting out. The fuse controls the odometer, speedometer, air conditioning, and ABS light (comes on). Has anyone had experience with this or suggestions for fixing it?

Thanks

Red face Possible Solution for Fuse #10 Blowing

Thanks to a different car forum, I believe we found a solution to Fuse #10 repeatedly blowing (takes out odometer, speedometer, air conditioning, and ABS light comes on). The master brake cylinder has a small leak that over time corrupted the brake pressure switch that sits right below the brake master cylinder. We replaced this part with the redesigned switch (SW-6351 XW7Z-9F924-BA Brake Repair Kit) and so far the fuse has not blown. This part cost about $25.00 through the Ford dealer.

Default 2000 Windstar

Thanks for sharing your problem & your solution. My 2000 Windstar did exactly the same thing yesterday in the 94 degree heat. We will try replacing the same part & hopefully it will work for us too.

SoO1,

Was it your master cylinder leaking or the switch? I looked at mine this evening. It is leaking. But it appears to be leaking at the switch. There are no leaks anywhere else on the Master cylinder.

Thanks for posting the info. It helped greatly. I also have the 1999 3.8L windstar. The abs light has been driving me nuts for the last few months.

What car forum did you find the answer in? I would like to check it out.

Thanks,
-TR

I really appreciate this, we have been having the same problem. We just got off of a trip and replaced the #10 fuse multiple times. I recently just had refilled the brake fluid when I inspected the switch below the Master Cylinder it was soaking in fluid. I cleaned it, put it back together and it's been great since. it was hell however being in 110 degrees with no AC before I figured this out.

I replaced the same part the last weekend in July. I fixed the leak...but the abs light still comes on. I think the abs light is related to something else.
