Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

2001 Windstar. Check engine light goes on. After I drive for about a mile the check engine light blinks. I took it to Autozone to check for any error codes. They plugged in their instrument and the screen did not light up. They got another instrument and that one did not light up either. Any ideas as to why? Any suggestions?

Joe

I suspect you got an unable to communicate error.

That may be due to a blown fuse that goes to the data link connector for the scanner.
Look in your owners manual, it may have a separate fuse, or it is often on the same fuse as the cigar lighter.

You may obtain an owners manual here for 1996 and newer
Fuse panels are listed in the "Roadside Emergencies" section.
