Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
My van is doing this and I done some searching just in case any one was wondering about it something is wrong with the mode selector system. (floor, dash, defrost, mix). depending on the year of your car either the switch, vacuum line, cable, or electric motor, or wiring, or the door itself inside your dash. it's on defraust because the car makers made it that way so if this failed in the winter, you'd be able to see. take some panels out of the way on both sides of your car under the dash, you may be able to see what is wrong.
I want to follow on to what has already been stated - The federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) 108 - mandates that in a default - or broken. The climate control must default to the defrost.
Good tip - the fastest way to know if your climate control is broke -
