Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

I do not have an NGS.
I only have one key that is learned.
not sure if i can perform module installation.
when I used the MODIS I used the VIN entry mode to make sure the Infor was vehicle specific. I've had trouble in the past with other vehicles.

New generation star, but the question was actually aimed at takbacksn, sorry I should have specified that, oops.

At any rate, unless the problem is just a corrupt fuel or timing map (that almost any performance tuner can fix) I believe you'd need an NGS or WDS (world diagnostic system) to do a complete reflash, and even then you'd need the proper (intact) strategy for your engine. Also, if there was no VIN in the PCM then it sounds like they may have replaced the previous PCM when you last had this problem, which doesn't bode well for your current situation because if they did replace the previous unit they thought it was unrepairable, which may well be the case now.

I'm not sure the MODIS can do a complete reflash. If it doesn't, to keep costs down and save you the hassle and cost of needing to pay to do a complete reflash (just the VIN and maybe the mileage (which I'm not sure the mileage is completely necessary)) you may want to go to the local salvage yard or look on the net and find one with the correct strategy for your year, model and engine. But before you spend anything check for voltage drop, ground and proper vref.

I am going over ALL the Grounds with my megga ohm meter today - then it s my wifes turn to get it over there sometime this week. - stay tuned

Clean the IAC and MAF.

When was the last time you replaced the air filter and fuel filter and PCV ?

Check for Vacuum leaks.

UPDATE
I had a lot of trouble this weekend driving!
- For the first time it didnt stall
- 65MPH and no throttle response all she wanted to do was idle.
- Apply throttle it would stall from lean mixture
- While my wife drove i sat and watched the MAF on the Scanner - not a single hiccup
- After i got it home left it to Idle in the driveway she would stall
- check the coil packs all were at 1.0 or 1.1 ohms
Took it to the dealer to attempt a re-flash per code P0602
- unable to re-flash
- latest software installed, (although Ford recommends re-flash for P0602)
- unable to maintain a connection long enough to perform any tests

The worst part is that Ford doesn't make any Mini-Vans - So i couldn't even window shop. - Better off - i really don't need a another payment!
I am going to attempt a new PCM

Stay tuned

Now the question turns to; what's going on that your van has blown 2 PCM's?

Everything went well -tech said he had an no trouble flashing the new PCM - We will see
This is the first replacement PCM - Ford had a recall / TSB for a new harware version that was performed to this van in 2000.
