Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
The headlight lenses have a hazy film on them, I’m pretty sure the film is on the inside...
1.) How do you get the lights off of the van (if I need to do that)
2.) How do you take the lights apart?
My guess is a heat gun to melt the glue, but I heard that you can put them in a cold, electric oven, and then set the oven for 200°F and bake for 10 minutes
I had a problem with the headlights of my 96 and corrected by doing the following.
1) lightly wet sanded the front exterior headlight lenses with 1000 grid wet/dry sandpaper
2) rinsed well
3) lightly wet sanded the front exterior headlight lenses with 1000 grid wet/dry sandpaper
4) rinsed well
5) allowed the headlights to dry
6) buffed out the remaining marks (used a drill attachment)
Headlights look like new and are much clearer for night driving.
walmart also carries a complete kit for taking care of the headlight lenses i used that on my 96 and notced a dramatic improvement for 20 bucks you can't beat the results
Worked great through wasn't a 1 step process, but there is fogging on the inside (water droplets) and also either dirt or water marks on inside...just looks dirty inside, performance is alot better. Walmart had a set a cool blue High Intensity Bulbs by Sylvania, that really do perform quite well. Only about $25 for 2. I also had to aim the lights because they were way off.
If there is an easy way to get the lights insides clean or at least not foggy It'd be great. I'm thinking take bulbs out, put silica packet in headlight assembly (to dry the air inside) Then use a small tube of clear RTV to seal the seem of the headlights. Remove silica, and install bulbs.
