Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default serpentine change leads to waterpump question

Just completed the long overdue serpentine belt change on the 2001 Windstar. While doing the job I was looking over the waterpump, thankfully no leaks, but was wondering what the replacement procedure is. It looks like the pulley would come off fairly easy. Some pump bolts look like they can be removed from the top while access to the lower one would have to be made with the wheel removed from the van. Will the pump and bolts clear the body of the van or will the mounts have to be removed and the engine position adjusted as necessary to accomodate pump and bolt removal. Just wondering for future use. Thanks.

You don't say which engine--3.0 or 3.8? I believe the 3.8 requires about 2 or 3 inches of engine lift to remove the pulley. Don't know about the 3.0.

Factory manuals for the year of your Windy are usually available on ebay for cheap. They answer questions like this, and can save hours of grief.
