Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Brakes problems... ABS Unit???

Yet another problem with my 1998 WS... the brakes were not engaging so i replaced all work down parts.... all 4 calipers, all brake pads, the 2 front disc rotors, and one rear brake line.

then it was braking alot better, but still nowhere near great (the pedal has to be on the floor to make the van slow down). If you pump the brakes it works better.

Then i took the van to my local garage to replace the master cylinder ($220), they also went through 2 cans of brake fluid trying to bleed the system. They still saw not much improvement and took my van to ford. They hooked the van up to a computer, and the van had no air to purge from the ABS system. ($45)

Now ford is telling me that alot of these vans have a problem where when you replace the master cylinder, you have to replace the ABS unit (supposedly a box located near the master cyliner that only ford can service) my mechanic told me that he did one on a blazer for $1400...IS THIS FOR REAL???
