Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Aftermarket cruise control in 1998 Windstar (never had cc)

I will soon be in possession of a 1998 Windstar cargo van. It's a very basic model with virtually no options. One option I miss is cruise control. I use it all the time and would really like to install (or rather, have installed) an aftermarket unit. A quick search shows many people like the Audiovox cruise control. Some people use it in conjunction with a factory cruise control that's not working. But what about on a Windstar that was never equipped with cruie control?

I'm guessing most people's Windstars came with factory cruise control, so this many not apply to many people. But has anyone installed an aftermarket unit, if so, what brand and how do you like it?

It seems that any Windstars with factory cruise control had steering wheel mounted controls, so that would involve changing the steering wheel (and of course air bag), all for a unit that's apparently kind of sketchy anyways - in terms of reliability. Maybe an aftermarket unit is best after all?
