Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 2000 sel - electrical problem maybe bad alternator?

van stalled out last night, gauges and lights went nuts, radio, heat, and lights shut off and then it stalled. went back this morning, it boosted right away, but sputtered and wouldnt accelerate, made it a couple hundred yards maybe. initially thought if was a fuel problem, can hear fuel pump when i turn it on, didnt pull off fuel filter to check it yet. but when it starts and idles it seems to run smooth. charged battery for couple hours, and it started, shut it off, and it started again. unhooked battery cable while it was running because i was told it would shut off if alternator was faulty, and it did shut off. only after reading some more later found out its not so good to do that to newer vehicles. But, is the battery cable test right?, is my alternator going or gone already? after more reading heard it could be battery or connections, cleaned battery posts. or that it may be bad grounds. also read that where wiring goes into doors, wiring can become frayed/loose/disconnected. but never used a voltyampertesty thing. so wouldnt know how to check battery, grounds, fuses, etc. I understand this possessed electrical system is a sorta common thing, what are the most common culprits? any help is greatly appreciated, maybe theres a thread i have not found yet, thanks everyone
