Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
Browsing motorcraft and rockauto catalog it seems that rack and pinion is different for 1995-97 and 1998 windstar. Does someone know what is the difference? Thing is that mine is made end year of 1997 but it is 1998 model and sold then. It has 98 style grille but many parts ie. rear wheel bearings are old model. So I dont know wich rack and pinion to buy. Is the difference something big like dimensions change?
Sorry don't know but a few things where changed from 97 to 98 and on. I recently replaced 2 door lock actuators and within 2 months in 97 which is a 98 model they changed the actuators all together, had the new style already in my 98 which was built late 97. I replaced a rack and pionion not difficult to find, use the vin # at the dealers to find the type first.
