2000 windstar rough start

I have just bought a 2000 windstar with 76k miles and just starting having problem starting rough and will not stay idle. I would give it little more gas about 1500rpm for about a minute then the engine smooth out and stay idle and it runs find all day until the next day.
I been reading about 95 and 96 windstars having the same problems and found the problems to be the head gasket.
Is my 2000 windstar having similar problem.
Can anyone help, I dont really want to bring to the dealer since I know they want big $$$ for this.

I had a similar problem...intake manifold cracked or leaking. Check your value covers to see if they are not caved in. The leakage will cause negative pressure under the value covers an force this contraction.
