Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Generic electronic module

Can someone tell me where to find the GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE on a
1996 windstar.
The problem is that i cannot get the ajar light to come off on the dash.
It thinks that there is a door ajared, leaving the lights on in the van, draining
the battery.

the door ajar switches need to be cleaned the two front ones are located in the door. Open the door and clean the latch mechanizem also use a screw driver and lock the latch and use air to blow inside them, then use wd-40 or liquid wrench and spray inside the latch. Release the latch and close and open the door few times. The side door open it at the back of the door do same to that latch. The back door there is two adjar switches. Locacted on both sides clean them the same way. The G.E.M. is under the dash behind the fuse panel BUT WHY DO YOU WANT TO KNOW. If its for the adjar light repacing it won't help.

What goon said. I had a 95 Windstar do this to me too. I took it to the shop. They hooked it up to the computer and the system told them all the doors were open while the mechanic was sitting inside with the doors closed. He cleaned all the latches with WD-40 and things were fine.
