Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Ford Windstar 98GL.

Hi I am driving a ford windstar 98GL. I have few questions:
1. It has cloth interior. Now after so many years can I change to leather?
2. When I raise the speed to 30 - 35 mph, engine gives an honing sound. Before or after this speed there is no such sound.
3. When I push pedal for brake, it makes slight noise.
4. Even though all the doors are locked, some times it shows door open signal constantly.

Can any one give me an idea what is wrong?

Thanks.

Kalam

Default Door open light when locked up

VikingBear here. I have the same problem with my '03; check the rear door switches on the back door. If they are sticking open, or the door is locking up a bit early, you will get that display. Try turning the door stop bumpers in tight; this may let the door seat further into the car and actuate the switches.
Good Luck!

#1 what ever floats your boat, if you got the money you can do anything.
#2 probably a leak in the air filter box or dirty airfilter.
#3 mine does this sometimes, it is a 1998 and things wear out.
#4 is a bad door light switch, most likely the rear hatch. Mine is always sticking. I use silicone lubricant and it goes away. I really should just buy a new switch.

mine has a honing sound at about 30-50 MPH i think it is either a CV Joint or a wheel bearing.

mine 1998 WS got 238,000 Miles....with original CV joints and bearings....don't let it bother you
