Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
The reverse sensing system that beeps when you back up has stopped working and the light that shows that it is off stays lit. When you press the button to turn it on it blinks off and then goes back on.
I just took my 2003 Explorer in for the same symptoms. They said there was a short in one of the sensors. They had to replace the sensors and the labor was expensive at about 178.00 and the parts were about another 100.00 which gave me a bill of $378.00 to do the job.
I went ahead with it even though my extended warranty would not cover it. I wonder if I had purchased a FORD extended warranty instead of the third-party extended warranty if they might have covered this useful safety feature.
Sorry, I am still in a little bit of shock at how much it cost to fix.
