Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Hi all, Boy this scares me, all this talk about tranny problems with Windstar.I just picked up a 2003 with 60000 on it from a Ford dealer. With 12 and 12000 mile warranty on it with a 100$ deductable. It was a turn back from a lease. From the sounds of things I better go back and get the extended warrany. Can anyone tell me some early warning signs of a tranny problem? We like the van rides nice and the vision is great. Has anyone had one of these trannys apart and found out what went wrong? Maybe a external filter or bigger cooler might help. Is there a synthetic oil for trans. available?
