Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Question 2002 Windstar Driver's Window...DEAD

Hi All. The driver's side window on my wife's 2002 Windstar would only go up and down really really slowly over the past couple of years and now all of a sudden it went half way down today and wouldn't go either up nor down. I can't find the book so I don't know which fuse, if any, I blew and I know that when it was going up and down before we would hear a "clicking" sound by the floor board and when we did it when the lights were on, the lights would flicker when we pressed the switch. As for now, I just want to get the window back up without having to replacing anything major.

Any suggestions?
- Rob

Pull up on the window hard while an assistant hits the switch. It may go back up.

Already tried. When the window was going up slow before, it would work pulling it up while the button is pressed, but now it won't go up or down no matter how hard I pull on it.

Fixed! Well, not exactly. After checking the fuse, making sure the switch worked fine, and then took the door panel apart I figured out that the motor should work the same way as a starter motor. So...I beat the hell out of the window motor as I was pressing the up button and all of a sudden the window started to go up the same way it did before...very slowly, but all I cared about was that it was up.

Unhappy I had same problem

My window stopped about 3 inches from the top. Turned out the fuse was fine!

Dealer replaced motor and told me that the factory grease job on the 02 Windstar was notoriously thin. They regreased the tracks and replaced the motor for @ $300 and I haven't had a problem since.

I had my drivers window broken by some idiot that wanted to steal my GPS mount, ($30). Window replacement cost...$90. Now I am having the same problem with the window moving real slow. I will not pay for replacing the motor but will go back to the glass shop to have it adjusted properly. I think you got greased for $300. If your motor worked, I find it hard to believe that it needed replacement. Correct adjustment should have fixed your problem. Did the dealer give you the old/defective motor back? Or at least show it to you?

I saw the motor that the dealer removed. It was completely locked up.
