Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 03 Windstar blinking dashboard lights

My van has spent the last 2 days at the dealership and they can't find the solution!! I truly believe that there's a ghost riding in my van. The dashboard lights like to "flicker" and "dim" whenever they please, on bumpy surfaces, and smooth surfaces, but they never totally go out. Sometimes my cabin lights like to join in the fun as well. I'm almost out of my extended warranty to top it off. Has anyone else experienced these problems?? If so, what did you do to solve the problem??

Thanks,
Brenda

Intermittent Electrical short is what you have, they are the hardest to diagnose.

Has the dealer experienced the problem? If they have they have it documented that they notice the problem but didn't fix it so when it breaks for sure they will have to fix it.

No, the dealership had the van for 2 days and couldn't find anything wrong anywhere. Of course driving it home last night it flickered, go figure! I just know that something major is going to happen the first mile out of warranty . . . .

Thanks,
bj

Take it to a different dealer. Let them drive it for a few days to verify the problem.

I'm also having problems with interior lights flashing intermittently. Someone told me it is the ignition switch. I was cynical, until I jiggled the ignition switch when the lights were flashing - problem went away. Seems to correct it every time (temporarily, anyways).
