Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Question Need help w/99 windstar

I just bought a 99 windstar cash for 1995.00 and the dealer told me that I need to replace the spark plug wires and so I did and my van is still sluggish. Auto zone has told me it is miss firing in plugs 3 and 6 but the plug wires are new. What my van is doing is that it is sluggish to go and somethings gets stuck and then it goes throw and its fine but then when I come to a stop sometimes it ideals some, kinda jumping when stopped. Maybe transmission problems, were thinking catalytic converter. Any ideas please. Thanks

do what Alfred said if they are okay then purchase a pair of plastic pliers, then when the van is running and missing remove the plug wire from the coil, see if it makes a differents running, if not put the wire back on and move to the next, also you should see spark from the coil hole if not replace the coil. On the windstar i have replaced alot of coils. if the coils are fine. try unplugging the injector and see if that makes a difference if not then it may be the injector I have also replaced a few of them too. If its okay make sure the maf sensor is okay and not dirty or try another one from someone you know.

Replace the spark plugs and then see how it runs.

Smile reply

Thanks for the replies, We have changed the spark plug wires and spark plugs and yes it is still going sluggish so we are going to try your advice. Please still give us advice if you come across any thing more. We might just take it to Ford but doing it ourself is cheaper but unsure if we can do it. Thanks again.
