Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 95 Tranny Swap?

History;
I have a 95 Windstar 3.8. Production date of Oct 94. My tranny, an AX4S has the BA part number suffix.

Problem:
The tranny has 211,000 miles on it and has finally started slipping at times and goes in to the blinking OD light mode often. When the OD light starts blinking the tranny will shift fairly normal. I know that when the OD light starts blinking the pressure is increased to max. thus sending more pressure past the worn parts.
I've checked and a Ford factory reman unit is $1700, in the crate, exchange.

Question;
Does anyone know for sure whether any of the later model trannies will interchange?

I have a great boneyard in my neighborhood, but a good 96 tranny is as close as I can find. $350 for a newly rebuilt unit with about 15,000 miles on it.

Thanks for any help here.

Ron
