Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 2001 Windstar Will not start.

I have a 2001 Ford Windstar that developed a problem of not starting after I hooked up a Actron CP9145 Super AutoScanner to read out error codes. The vehicle has been running rough and I had already replaced the Coil, EGR valve, spark plugs and spark plug wires. I had a code that the EGR flow was low so I reset the codes per the instructions. I then turned off the ignition switch and removed the scanner. Now the engine will not start unless I activate the theft alarm on the keyless remote and then deactivate it. The engine will now run but only a few minutes and I hear a click and everything is dead. I have tried disconnecting the battery to reset the computer but this does not help. Is it possible that the scanner could had created this problem and which computer could it be? I have a driveline computer under the hood and a computer called the Front Computer under the dash on the drivers side. This problem is associated with the security system but I don't know where to go from here.

Thanks

Jim Gilliland
