Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
Just wondering which Windstar is better; 95-98 or the 99-03? My wife is pregnant with twins and we already have a toddler so we'll need something that's dependable. I know every car has it's issue; just wondering what the issues are with these vans.
FWIW - I've heard a lot of negatives regarding head gaskets on the 95-98 and the transmissions on the 99-03... do you guys agree?
And last question: If you could buy any model with any engine from 95-03, which would it be and why?
We have a 2001 that has been very reliable. Having a sliding door on each side is a huge bonus with kids. We constantly cussed the lack in our old Aerostar.

Reality is the leading cause of stress avoid it as much as possible.
we had a pontiac transport and hated the no door on the drivers side. so when we got the 02 windstar it was a fantastic thing to have that 2nd door.
we have the 02 limited, if you looking for bells and whistles this is the van. then again you will have to put a child in the very back as the middle row has 2 chairs..
