Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 1998 WS picky ABS light

my 98 WS is still not fixed 100%

on the highway if i go exactly 72 mph, after a few moments the ABS might come on. I've noticed anywhere over 70mph it will also come on just but less of a chance it will, or it'll take longer. I'm guessing it's a wheel speed sensor.

About 10,000 miles ago my ws needed a big brake job... i replaced all 4 calipers, all 4 disc/drum brake pads, 2 front rotors, master cylindar, and one brake line (broke during caliper replace) I also had Ford replace the ABS hydraulic unit, soon after the light came on randomly, i took it back, they replaced the Driver side rear wheel speed sensor.

I'm guessing it's another wheel speed sensor, i just don't want to get charged $100 for a $45 sensor

mine does the same thing 2!! originally the abs light was on and i found out my ring on the axle broke. the ford dealership wanted 560 to replace so i took it someone who usually works on my car. its all fixed but if i go over 80 on the turnpike the abs light goes on. i freaked out and called the mechanic and he said if it happens take it back to him. the thing is i turn the car off and start it back up it's off. i did it another time and it went off after i shut the car off.... what is it???

Default ABS light...

same here mine is at 72MPH it's fine if your under or over

I've also noticed that it I'm going 80-85 mph, and i slow down (as if approaching slower car in front) the ABS system kicks in and the pedal vibrates and it acts as a brake booster untill I go under 72MPH I'm not worrying untill the ABS starts pulling off to sides

Now some more testing...

* "Rebooting" the car will clear the light.
* While the light is illuminated, the van will not let ABS kick in,
just regular brakes and the wheels lock up (you should see
my wonderful lawn now ).

___________

I had the ABS unit replaced when one day I only had about 10% of my brakes. and then the light came on...I though the ford dealer screwed up the install so i took it back. They replaced rear-left speed sensor for like $250, I can buy the part and turn a wrench for about 2-4 bolts and do it for $43.
