Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Have a 95 Windstar 3.8. Sometimes you can put it in gear and it does fine. Then other times you can put it in foward or reverse and it does nothing, almost like it is still in park or neutral. Any thoughts on what it could be.

When this happens, when you get on the gas, what happens? Does the engine rev without the car moving? Also, how do you remedy this? Do you put it back in park and then drive? Does it fix it?

drop pan, drain fluid, change filter, fill it up with new fluid, and add lucas trans fix.

Yes the engine revs up when you give it the gas. But you put it in drive and it doesn't move. The only thing I did to remedy it was shut the van off for a few minutes. When I went back and started it up it drove well enough to pull back in the garage.

Did you check the fluid level?
