Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Windstar got hit. Dumb People amaze me.

well some people still think they are above the law.

my wifes mini-van is a 2002 windstar limited, we looked for months for this van as it's in perfect shape and in spotless condition

last wednesday my wife was taking the daughter to softball practice, after leaving the ball field she went to turn around and coming thru a parking lot a lady sitting in a parking spot backs right into the side of her van. the lady gets out and says my wife was going the wrong way. My wife looks and the lady is parked right in front of a sign that says "no Parking"

thats not the issue. The lady says she just canceled her insurance with geico, she does the whole woah is me, trying to save money, hugging my wife saying it will be ok, they can work it out Blah Blah Blah.

some stupid reason my wife didn't call the cops but got all her info etc. I look at her van and it is wiped out from front door to rear bumper. the lady calls my wife even before she gets home and makes more pleas to handle this outside of insurance and cops. ( I wasn't home at the time)

She calls a couple minutes later and suggest that she will re-up her insurance tonite and they can file the claim the following week. My wifes calls me and ask what to do. I say that is not going to happen as that is fraud. after hearing this I thought the best thing to do is let metlife know what happened and tell them about the fraud thing, just to clear our name, as we didn't want it coming back if she recorded anything that could hurt us later.

I tell my wife that If this lady doesn't have the money for insurance, there is no way she is going to have the money to fix our van.

wife calls our insurance carrier metlife and informs them of the situation. We are going to file under uninsured motorist.

The lady then calls my wife again and recants the whole File later claim when she has insurance idea. Guess she thought this was a bad idea after thinking about it. My wife works in the fraud department of a credit card company, so this idea was not going to happen AT ALL.
Thursday morning I get a estimate from the body shop for 4177.00 the met life adjuster is coming out monday morning to look at her van.

Friday I guess met-life called the lady and informed her, she called here and said she was contacted by met life and "Thanks Alot" and hung up.

How in the world can people be so stupid to not have insurance. This happened in the parking lot of a private school which cost 15k a year for 1 kid. So she may have had the money, but I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't even tell the lady the cost of the estimate. I just decided to let my insurance company handle it. we haven't heard from the lady since the "thanks alot", but met-life says the lady is in BIG BIG trouble.

I mean this was a school parking lot, what if she backed over a kid.
There is no real questions to this pot, I just needed a place to vent on people with no insurance.

Now we have to wait for the adjuster and see what he says. This is our First ever claim so were kinda blind on how this all works. I have pictures of the van before the accident to show how clean this thing was. We take alot of pride in our cars and even wash them weekly even during the wintertime.

My bodyshop says basically take whatever the insurance company gives you and they will work out the difference on the estimate with the insurance company.

some states you dont have to carry auto ins. you can carry a bond [ most dont ]-- tenn. is one .--- cops wont do much in a privit lot --

be carefull your ins dont drop you after this is setteled -- its getting with ins . you use it --u lose it -- good luck -- you can also file in small claims court --check what the limit is for small claims --good luck

Your insurance may go up, it may not. Met will settle your claim then sue the woman to make up thier difference if they can. Had to do something like this with NationWide a few years ago, I feel your pain.
