Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default hatch lock problem

The hatch lock was stuck in the lock position. The key and keyless wouldn't unlock it. I took inside panel off and freed up mechanism seemed to be binding or cylinder stuck. Now it has been working ok for now. Any ideas? Thanks.

Locks, like all other moving parts must occasionally be lubricated. If it has been and you were still having issues...
Has the van ever been hit in the back? Do the liftgate struts support the hatch? I had a station wagon with failing hatch struts that was difficult to unlock or open because of it.
