Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

you may want to service the trans and see if that helps.

You have a trans that is computer controlled.
If any of the sensors that the computer uses to determine shifting are getting flaky, that *may* cause shifting problems.

You may want to check for codes, especially if your ABS light, or check engine light is on, and being that your OD light is blinking, that means that the trans itself is throwing a code.

I would service the trans or have it done, and the sooner the better, you may have a sticky valve that *may* respond to clean fluid. Sensors such as VSS (vehicle speed sensor), TPS (throttle position sensor), and MAF come to mind as sensors that are involved.

A number of parts stores will check your codes for free.
